Medical Definition: | Small regulatory, ANTISENSE RNAs, 21-25 nucleotides in length that repress the translation (TRANSLATION, GENETIC) of homologous target RNA. The process by which they are generated is related to the process that produces small interfering RNAs (RNA, SMALL INTERFERING). The small temporal RNAs (stRNAs), let-7 and lin-4, from C. elegans are a class of miRNAs |
Also Called: | RNA, Small Temporal |
Previously Indexed: | RNA, Antisense (2001-2002),RNA, Untranslated (2001-2002) |
