Inositol
Vitamin / Mineral Supplement Overview:Inositol, also known as myolnositol, functions closely with choline. Since the body and intestinal bacteria can make Inositol in limited quantities, it is not recognized as a vitamin. It is found naturally in breast milk, calf liver, cantaloupe, ,citrus fruit (except lemons), dried beans, garbanzo beans (chickpeas), lentils, milk, nuts, oats, pork, rice, veal, wheat germ and whole-grain products. It is also found in the brain, nerves, muscles, bones, reproductive organs, stomach, kidney, spleen, liver and heart.
How This Supplement Works in Your Body:
Inositol functions similarly to choline in helping move fats out
of the liver
Functions in nerve transmission
Makes up an important part of phospholipids, which are compounds
manufactured in our bodies
May protect against peripheral neuropathy associated with diabetes
(Some studies have shown promise for this use, but definitive, well-controlled
studies have not been done.)
May function as mild anti-anxiety agent
May help control blood-cholesterol level
Potential treatment for constipation with its stimulating effect
on muscular action of alimentary canal
May help you sleep better
Under study for anxiety disorders and Alzheimer's disease

Using Inositol:
Take capsule whole with a full glass of liquid. Do not chew or crush.
Take inositol with meals or 1 to 1-1/2 hours after meals unless
otherwise advised by your physician.
