GTP-Binding Protein Regulators
Medical Definition: | Proteins that regulate the signaling activity of GTP-BINDING PROTEINS. They are divided into three categories depending upon whether they stimulate GTPase activity (GTPASE-ACTIVATING PROTEINS), inhibit release of GDP; (GUANINE NUCLEOTIDE DISSOCIATION INHIBITORS); or exchange GTP for GDP; (GUANINE NUCLEOTIDE EXCHANGE FACTORS). |
Guide Notes: | Do not confuse with RGS proteins; DF: GTP BINDING PROTEIN REG |
Previously Indexed: | G-Proteins (1988-1999),Proteins (1978-1999) |
GTPase-Activating Proteins - Proteins that activate the GTPase of specific GTP-BINDING PROTEINS.
Guanine Nucleotide Dissociation Inhibitors - Protein factors that inhibit the dissociation of GDP from GTP-BINDING PROTEINS.
Guanine Nucleotide Exchange Factors - Protein factors that promote the exchange of GTP for GDP bound to GTP-BINDING PROTEINS. |
