Lymphoma

Medical Definition:	A general term for various neoplastic diseases of the lymphoid tissue.

Lymphoma Categories.

	Hodgkin Disease - A malignant disease characterized by progressive enlargement of the lymph nodes, spleen, and general lymphoid tissue, and the presence of large, usually multinucleate, cells (REED-STERNBERG CELLS) of unknown origin.
	Immunoproliferative Small Intestinal Disease - A condition that is caused by HYPERPLASIA of LYMPHOCYTES in the small intestine (INTESTINE, SMALL) and the mesenteric LYMPH NODES. These lymphocytes produce an anomalous heavy chain protein. Generally, these IPSID patients have either concurrent LYMPHOMA or develop lymphoma within a few years. The disease was originally described in the Mediterranean region.
	Letterer-Siwe Disease - Acute, disseminated, rapidly progressive form of Langerhans-cell histiocytosis.
	Lymphoma, Non-Hodgkin - Any of a group of malignant tumors of lymphoid tissue that differ from HODGKIN DISEASE, being more heterogeneous with respect to malignant cell lineage, clinical course, prognosis, and therapy. The only common feature among these tumors is the absence of giant REED-STERNBERG CELLS, a characteristic of Hodgkin's disease.
	Plasmacytoma - Any discrete, presumably solitary, mass of neoplastic plasma cells either in bone marrow or various extramedullary sites.
	Reticuloendotheliosis - Hyperplasia of reticuloendothelial tissue, in any organ or tissue. A related concept is reticulosis which is an increase in reticuloendothelial elements.
