Pregnancy

Medical Definition:	The condition of having a developing embryo or fetus in the body, after union of an ovum and spermatozoon. (Dorland, 27th ed)

Pregnancy Categories.

	Corpus Luteum Maintenance - Physiologic and biochemical factors that maintain an actively functioning corpus luteum.
	Labor Presentation - The part of the fetal body that is in advance in the birth canal.
	Labor, Obstetric - The repetitive uterine contraction during childbirth which is associated with the progressive dilation of the uterine cervix (CERVIX UTERI). Successful labor results in the expulsion of the FETUS and PLACENTA. Obstetric labor can be spontaneous or induced (LABOR, INDUCED).
	Maternal-Fetal Exchange - Exchange of substances between the maternal blood and the fetal blood through the placental barrier. It excludes microbial or viral transmission.
	Parturition - The process of giving birth to one or more offspring.
	Pregnancy Maintenance - Physiological mechanisms that sustain the state of pregnancy.
	Pregnancy, High-Risk - Pregnancy in which the mother and/or fetus are at greater than normal risk of morbidity or mortality. Causes include lack of adequate prenatal care, previous obstetrical history, pre-existing maternal disease or pregnancy-induced disease, and multiple gestation, as well as advanced maternal age.
	Pregnancy, Prolonged - Pregnancy continuing beyond the normal duration; in humans, usually beyond 294 days after the beginning of the last menses. (From Dorland, 27th ed)
