Denervation

Medical Definition:	The resection or removal of the nerve to an organ or part. (Dorland, 28th ed)

Denervation Categories.

	Autonomic Denervation - The removal or interruption of some part of the autonomic nervous system for therapeutic or research purposes.
	Axotomy - Transection or severing of an axon. This type of denervation is used often in experimental studies on neuronal physiology and neuronal death or survival, toward an understanding of nervous system disease.
	Cordotomy - Any operation on the spinal cord. (Stedman, 26th ed)
	Muscle Denervation - The resection or removal of the innervation of a muscle or muscle tissue.
	Nerve Crush
	Rhizotomy - Surgical interruption of a spinal or cranial nerve root. (From Dorland, 28th ed)
