Medical Definition:	Activities associated with the physical burial of the dead. It excludes cultural practices such as funeral rites.

Mortuary Practice Categories.

	Burial - The act or ceremony of putting a corpse into the ground or a vault, or into the sea. The custom of burial is primeval and omnipresent in all cultures and civilizations, generally accompanied by ceremonial rites.
	Embalming - Process of preserving a dead body to protect it from decay.
