Intestines

Medical Definition:	The section of the alimentary canal from the STOMACH to the ANUS. It includes the LARGE INTESTINE and SMALL INTESTINE.

Intestines Categories.

	Intestinal Mucosa - The innermost membrane of the four coats of the intestinal wall, the other three being the submucosa, muscular layers, and serosa. (Berk et al., Gastroenterology, 4th ed, v.3, p1479)
	Intestine, Large - A segment of the LOWER GASTROINTESTINAL TRACT that includes the CECUM; the COLON; and the RECTUM.
	Intestine, Small - The portion of the GASTROINTESTINAL TRACT between the PYLORUS of the STOMACH and the ILEOCECAL VALVE of the LARGE INTESTINE. It is divisible into three portions: the DUODENUM, the JEJUNUM, and the ILEUM.
