Blood Vessels
Medical Definition: | Any of the tubular vessels conveying the blood (arteries, arterioles, capillaries, venules, and veins). |

Arteries - The vessels carrying blood away from the heart. | |
Endothelium, Vascular - Single pavement layer of cells which line the luminal surface of the entire vascular system and regulate the transport of macromolecules and blood components from interstitium to lumen; this function has been most intensively studied in the blood capillaries. | |
Microcirculation - The circulation of the BLOOD through the microvascular network lying between the ARTERIOLES and VENULES. This network includes CAPILLARIES, metarterioles, and ARTERIOVENOUS ANASTOMOSES; and the flow of blood through this network. | |
Retinal Vessels - The blood vessels which supply and drain the RETINA. | |
Vasa Nervorum - Blood vessels supplying the nerves. | |
Vasa Vasorum - Nutrient blood vessels which supply the walls of large arteries or veins. | |
Veins - The vessels carrying blood toward the heart. |
