Isonicotinic Acids

Medical Definition:	Heterocyclic acids that are derivatives of 4-pyridinecarboxylic acid (isonicotinic acid).

Isonicotinic Acids Categories.

	Ethionamide - A second-line antitubercular agent that inhibits mycolic acid synthesis. It also may be used for treatment of leprosy. (From Smith and Reynard, Textbook of Pharmacology, 1992, p868)
	Nialamide - An MAO inhibitor that is used as an antidepressive agent.
	Prothionamide - Antitubercular agent similar in action and side effects to ETHIONAMIDE. It is used mostly in combination with other agents.
	Pyridoxic Acid - The catabolic product of most of VITAMIN B 6 (PYRIDOXINE; PYRIDOXAL; and PYRIDOXAMINE) which is excreted in the urine.
