Flaviviridae

Medical Definition: A family of RNA viruses, many of which cause disease in humans and domestic animals. There are three genera FLAVIVIRUS; PESTIVIRUS; and HEPACIVIRUS, as well as several unassigned species.

Canadian Medical Guide Definition Flavivirus - A genus of FLAVIVIRIDAE containing several subgroups and many species. Most are arboviruses transmitted by mosquitoes or ticks. The type species is YELLOW FEVER VIRUS.
Canadian Medical Guide Definition GB virus A - A species of virus (unassigned to a genus) in the family FLAVIVIRIDAE, that have been identified in at least six species of New World monkeys. They do not cause HEPATITIS in the host or other susceptible species.
Canadian Medical Guide Definition Pestivirus - A genus of FLAVIVIRIDAE, also known as mucosal disease virus group, which is not arthropod-borne. Transmission is by direct and indirect contact, and by transplacental and congenital transmission. Species include BORDER DISEASE VIRUS, bovine viral diarrhea virus (DIARRHEA VIRUS, BOVINE VIRAL), and CLASSICAL SWINE FEVER VIRUS.
