Guide Notes: | inflamm dis = BRONCHITIS |
Asthma - A form of bronchial disorder associated with airway obstruction, marked by recurrent attacks of paroxysmal dyspnea, with wheezing due to spasmodic contraction of the bronchi.
Bronchial Fistula - An abnormal passage or communication between a bronchus and another part of the body.
Bronchial Hyperreactivity - Tendency of the smooth muscle of the tracheobronchial tree to contract more intensely in response to a given stimulus than it does in the response seen in normal individuals. This condition is present in virtually all symptomatic patients with asthma. The most prominent manifestation of this smooth muscle contraction is a decrease in airway caliber that can be readily measured in the pulmonary function laboratory.
Bronchial Spasm - Spasmodic contraction of the smooth muscle of the bronchi.
Bronchiectasis - Persistent abnormal dilatation of the bronchi.
Bronchitis | |
Bronchopneumonia - Acute inflammation of the walls of the smaller bronchial tubes, with varying amounts of pulmonary consolidation due to spread of the inflammation into peribronchiolar alveoli and the alveolar ducts. (Stedman, 25th ed)
Tracheobronchomegaly - A rare and probably congenital condition characterized by great enlargement of the lumen of the trachea and the larger bronchi. |
