Medical Definition: | Either of the pair of organs occupying the cavity of the thorax that effect the aeration of the blood. |

Bronchi - The larger air passages of the lungs arising from the terminal bifurcation of the trachea. | |
Extravascular Lung Water - Water present within the lungs; its volume is roughly equal to, or a little less than, the intracellular blood volume of the lungs. Accumulations of extravascular lung water result in pulmonary edema. | |
Pulmonary Alveoli - Small polyhedral outpouchings along the walls of the alveolar sacs, alveolar ducts and terminal bronchioles through the walls of which gas exchange between alveolar air and pulmonary capillary blood takes place. |
