Visual Perception

Medical Definition:	The selecting and organizing of visual stimuli based on the individual's past experience.
Guide Notes:	differentiate from VISION: vis percept takes place in the brain, vision takes place in the eye

Visual Perception Categories.

	Afterimage - Continuation of visual impression after cessation of stimuli causing the original image.
	Color Perception - The visual awareness of any particular hue or achromatic color.
	Figural Aftereffect - A perceptual phenomenon used by Gestalt psychologists to demonstrate that events in one part of the perceptual field may affect perception in another part.
	Motion Perception - The real or apparent movement of objects through the visual field.
	Perceptual Closure - The tendency to perceive an incomplete pattern or object as complete or whole. This includes the Gestalt Law of Closure.
