Postoperative Complications

Medical Definition:	Pathologic processes that affect patients after a surgical procedure. They may or may not be related to the disease for which the surgery was done, and they may or may not be direct results of the surgery.

Postoperative Complications Categories.

	Graft Occlusion, Vascular - Obstruction of flow in biological or prosthetic vascular grafts.
	Malignant Hyperthermia - Rapid and excessive rise of temperature accompanied by muscular rigidity following general anesthesia.
	Pain, Postoperative - Pain during the period after surgery.
	Postoperative Nausea and Vomiting - Emesis and queasiness occurring after anesthesia.
	Prosthesis Failure - Malfunction of implantation shunts, valves, etc., and prosthesis loosening, migration, and breaking.
	Surgical Wound Dehiscence - Pathologic process consisting of a partial or complete disruption of the layers of a surgical wound.
