Necrosis
Medical Definition: | A pathological process caused by the progressive degradative action of enzymes that is generally associated with severe cellular trauma. It is characterized by mitochondrial swelling, nuclear flocculation, uncontrolled cell lysis, and ultimately CELL DEATH. |

Fat Necrosis - A condition in which the death of adipose tissue results in neutral fats being split into fatty acids and glycerol. | |
Gangrene - Death and putrefaction of tissue usually due to a loss of blood supply. | |
Infarction - A pathological process consisting of a sudden insufficient blood supply to an area, which results in necrosis of that area. It is usually caused by a thrombus, an embolus, or a vascular torsion. |
