Ketone Oxidoreductases
Medical Definition: | |
CAS Number: | EC 1.2. |
Previously Indexed: | Oxidoreductases (1966-1972) |
3-Methyl-2-Oxobutanoate Dehydrogenase (Lipoamide) - A ketone oxidoreductase that catalyzes the overall conversion of alpha-keto acids to ACYL-CoA and CO2. The enzyme requires THIAMINE DIPHOSPHATE as a cofactor. Defects in genes that code for subunits of the enzyme are a cause of MAPLE SYRUP URINE DISEASE. The enzyme was formerly classified as EC 1.2.4.3.
Pyruvate Oxidase | |
Xanthine Dehydrogenase - An enzyme that catalyzes the oxidation of xanthine in the presence of NAD+ to form urate and NADH. It acts also on a variety of other purines and aldehydes. EC 1.1.1.204.
Xanthine Oxidase - An iron-molybdenum flavoprotein containing FLAVIN-ADENINE DINUCLEOTIDE that oxidizes hypoxanthine, some other purines and pterins, and aldehydes. Deficiency of the enzyme, an autosomal recessive trait, causes xanthinuria. EC 1.1.3.22. |
