Nervous System Neoplasms

Medical Definition:	Benign and malignant neoplastic processes arising from or involving components of the central, peripheral, and autonomic nervous systems, cranial nerves, and meninges. Included in this category are primary and metastatic nervous system neoplasms.

Nervous System Neoplasms Categories.

	Central Nervous System Neoplasms - Benign and malignant neoplastic processes that arise from or secondarily involve the brain, spinal cord, or meninges.
	Cranial Nerve Neoplasms - Benign and malignant neoplasms that arise from one or more of the twelve cranial nerves.
	Paraneoplastic Syndromes, Nervous System - Degenerative or inflammatory conditions affecting the central or peripheral nervous system that develop in association with a systemic neoplasm without direct invasion by tumor. They may be associated with circulating antibodies that react with the affected neural tissue. (Intern Med 1996 Dec;35(12):925-9)
