Alphaherpesvirinae

Medical Definition:	A subfamily of HERPESVIRIDAE characterized by a short replication cycle. The genera include: SIMPLEXVIRUS, VARICELLOVIRUS, MAREK'S DISEASE-LIKE VIRUSES, and INFECTIOUS LARYNGOTRACHEITIS-LIKE VIRUSES.

	Infectious Laryngotracheitis-like Viruses - A genus of the family HERPESVIRIDAE, subfamily ALPHAHERPESVIRIDAE, with a single species: HERPESVIRUS 1, GALLID.
	Marek's Disease-like Viruses - A genus in the family HERPESVIRIDAE, subfamily ALPHAHERPESVIRINAE, associated with malignancy in birds.
	Simplexvirus - A genus of the family HERPESVIRIDAE, subfamily ALPHAHERPESVIRINAE, consisting of herpes simplex-like viruses. The type species is HERPESVIRUS 1, HUMAN.
	Varicellovirus - A genus of the family HERPESVIRIDAE, subfamily ALPHAHERPESVIRINAE. Its species include those causing CHICKENPOX and HERPES ZOSTER in humans (HERPESVIRUS 3, HUMAN), as well as several animal viruses.
