Colitis

Medical Definition:	Inflammation of the COLON section of the large intestine (INTESTINE, LARGE), usually with symptoms such as DIARRHEA (often with blood and mucus), ABDOMINAL PAIN, and FEVER.
Guide Notes:	ENTEROCOLITIS (small & large intestinal inflamm) is also available

Colitis Categories.

	Colitis, Ischemic - Inflammation of the COLON due to colonic ISCHEMIA resulting from alterations in systemic circulation or local vasculature.
	Colitis, Ulcerative - Inflammation of the COLON that is predominantly confined to the MUCOSA. Its major symptoms include DIARRHEA, rectal BLEEDING, the passage of MUCUS, and ABDOMINAL PAIN.
	Proctocolitis - Inflammation of the RECTUM and the distal portion of the COLON.
