Medical Definition: | Animals having a vertebral column, members of the phylum Chordata, subphylum Craniata comprising mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and fishes. |

Mammals - Warm-blooded vertebrate animals belonging to the class Mammalia, including all that possess hair and suckle their young. It includes three major groups: placentals and marsupials, which are vivparous, and monotremes, which are oviparous. (Dorland, 28th ed.) | |
