Characeae

Medical Definition:	Slender, threadlike family of ALGAE, in the order Charales, that are closely related to PLANTS. They differ from GREEN ALGAE in that they grow upright with branches off a central stand.

Characeae Categories.

	Chara - A genus of ALGAE in the family CHARACEAE. They have a strong garlic-like odor and are an important food source for waterfowl.
	Nitella - A genus of ALGAE in the family CHARACEAE. They are found in shallow to deep waters of soft water or acid lakes and bogs.
