Zona Glomerulosa

Medical Definition: The narrow subcapsular outer zone of the adrenal cortex. This zone consists of granular cells which stain deeply and are arranged in rounded groups. It converts pregnenolone to aldosterone by a series of enzymatically regulated steps.
