Respiratory System

Larynx - An irregularly shaped, musculocartilaginous tubular structure, lined with mucous membrane, located at the top of the trachea and below the root of the tongue and the hyoid bone. It is the essential sphincter guarding the entrance into the trachea and functioning secondarily as the organ of voice. | |
Lung - Either of the pair of organs occupying the cavity of the thorax that effect the aeration of the blood. | |
Pleura - The thin serous membrane enveloping the lungs (LUNG) and lining the THORACIC CAVITY. | |
Respiratory Mucosa - The mucous membrane lining the respiratory tract. | |
Trachea - The cartilaginous and membranous tube descending from the larynx and branching into the right and left main bronchi. |
