Reference Standards

Medical Definition:	A basis of value established for the measure of quantity, weight, extent or quality, e.g. weight standards, standard solutions, methods, techniques, and procedures used in diagnosis and therapy.
Guide Notes:	NIM with specific subject (IM) with /stand if permitted by category; no qualif; differentiate from REFERENCE VALUES: REFERENCE STANDARDS = basis of value or standard for a measurement, REFERENCE VALUES = range or frequency distribution of a measurement
